Intelligent Conversation

Well I am sure already you have gathered that this is a rant about blondes right? Well actually no… not blondes to be specific, more attitudes and lack of interests outside of the stereotypes.
I don’t know about you but I for one am sick to death of being overlooked by the male species just because I happen to be fairly balanced, a good advice giver and not the most stunning of women, but not the worst either.
Ok so yeah I can get on my soapbox and spout off about morality and respect, but that doesn’t mean I am unavailable, unwilling or untouchable either.
Just because someone thinks about cause and effect shouldn’t make them unapproachable, nor should the ability to actually hold a half decent and opinionated articulate conversation! But these days it seems there a very few men out there in the world who actually enjoy talking, which I may add is a damn shame.
Intelligent conversation is so sexy damnit! You know that moment when you meet someone, you don’t really know anything about them, but then you managed to find yourself in a really good conversation, sparring off views, ideals and opinions?
The magical chemistry contained within good conversation can be like the ultimate form of foreplay, tantalising, titillating, arousing and so fine!
So why is these days that so many people, male and female can’t seem to hold a decent conversation, without it reducing to either…
1. Xbox
2. Gossip
3. Msn speak
4. Bitching
5. Music
Now of course all the above fall very nicely into today’s conversation market, but please to god surely you have INTERESTS AND PASSIONS OUTSIDE OF THE AFOREMENTIONED MEDIA!!!!!
But no it would seem not… I am a talker as you have probably guessed already, and I have a wide selection of interests which yes music, films and even bitching come into it at the appropriate occasion.
Of course most conversations start of with small talk subjects like music that most normal human beings can key into, but for god sake if music is the ONLY thing that rocks your boat, try and at least have some sodding variation in the bands you like, or at least a little more information on them aside from quoting your favourite emo geared lyric in your favourite song.
I do NOT want to hear about the lead singers latest haircut! I do not want to hear about how hard they had it when they broke up with their latest celebrity BF/GF.
And if you HAVE to discuss music at least have an idea in your head why you love the subject so damn much to warble on about 1 band for about 2 hours straight…
Don’t get me wrong here… I LOVE music, not all music I grant you but my choices are pretty damn varied. For example I love Opera, Indie, Ambiant, Jazz, Blues, Classical, Hip Hop, Rap, Electronic, Alternative, Grimy Metal and Industrial to name but a few….
Some bands I can even rave about for up to an hour… but most are now in the dear departed as I sadly think there are very few bands and artists around today worth raving about to be brutally honest.
But I digress…
This was meant to be about a few interlinked subjects concerning having a intelligent and VARIED conversation.
So what topics can we discuss? I hear you cry…
Well simply put anything that interests you annoys you or your passionate about, the world is vast and contains so much variation in it there surely has to be a passion for everyone out there, somewhere.
For me I love a wide selection of subjects, I can talk for hours and absolutely ADORE a good debate. There is nothing better then finding someone who can spar off ideas, the opinionated streak in me simply loves the challenge of having a conversation with someone who has similar and yet very different ideas and ideals.
Some of my best ever conversations have stemmed from sitting in my kitchen with friends old and new, drinking and discussing a massive set of subjects, from Poetry to quantum physics, politics to Film, Eco issues to Cult behaviour, Psychology to Drinking habits, not forgetting to throw in the subjects of relationships, sex and music of course!
We talk, we play daft drinking games and we laugh a lot, and hell I miss that so I made myself a mini mission to find people who like the same.
And that’s when I found out there is very few out there or I have yet to find them….
The amount of times whereby I find myself always being the one to start topical conversation of is ridiculous, once its started the wheels are oiled and set in motion but then one of three things will happen…
1. It will either take off and turn into a wicked debate.
2. It starts off promisingly enough but soon falters as soon as I ask them to start a topic, and they can think of nothing.
3. (And this is the worse scenario) They have no opinion because they have no interest or desires in life - WTF?!?! How can anyone not have dreams, desires or passions?!?!?
I mean how the hell can you have any enjoyment from life if you have no interests?
Which now brings me back to why I raise the issue of blondes into the matter, no I don’t dislike all blondes just the genuinely thick ones who think more about their looks and popularity than real issues (and yes this attitude also applies to brunettes and redheads with the same attitude, I just have a natural issue with blondes as it it.)
Why is it if you go out, girls who giggle, wear short outfits and are clearly very superficial always get all the attention? Barely any of them can actually spell the word articulate let alone know its actual definition.
Yes of course plenty of guys out there like them for the superficiality as lets face it they’re on the pull for a shag with a tight arse ( though I doubt anything else is tight...)
But what on earth do they talk about aside from “Do you come here often” or “I really like your dress”
GAH!
In an ideal world everyone would have passion, interest and the ability to actually speak using real language instead of abbreviated words and slang.
And women like myself would actually be appreciated for their brains and personality.
I for one am sending my order up to the universe, just have to await the delivery, just hoping it won’t take a lifetime.
